The Mighty Duke of York

Author Unknown

Sit down with your legs straight out in front of you, put your toddler on your knees facing away from you, and hold him under his arms (keep holding on through the entire song.)

The mighty Duke of York. He had ten thousand men.
He marched the men right up the hill, (bend your knees and your child will go “up”)
And marched them down again. (straighten your legs to bring your toddler “down”)

‘Cause when you’re up, your up (bend your knees and bring your child up again)
And when you’re down, your down (straighten again)
And when your only half way up, (bend your knees slightly)
You’re neither up nor down. (bend your knees up and down with the words)

He marched them to the left (tip your legs and your child to the left- keep holding on!)
He marched them to the right (tip to the right)
He marched his men right upside down (hold onto your child and roll on your back and back to sitting)
Oh what a silly sight!
